Many business ideas have come and gone in the show's past 17 years, but the ones chosen for investment have proved the dragons right. Some investments have become more popular than others and made more riches and success.
Dragons Den appears on BBC One every Thursday at 8pm.
The Magic Whiteboard is one of the most successful businesses to come from Dragons Den.
Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis originally invested in the product at £100,000, and it has become their most successful investment.
It is a portable whiteboard in a roll created by married couple Neil and Laura Westwood. You can find the product stocked in all major stationary and office supply outlets with customers all over the world.
The Westwood's have since bought back their shares from Meaden and Paphitis in September 2014 at a higher compensated price of £800,000.
]]>One such successful company is Magic Whiteboard, which was first set up in the West Midlands back in 2006.
Magic Whiteboard is basically a roll of A1 whiteboard sheets that will stick on anything thanks to static and is now stocked in all major office supply stores with a global customer base.
BusinessLive reports that the product is now said to be Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis’ most successful investment, with the portable whiteboard achieving impressive growth since appearing on the show.
However, when Worcester husband-and-wife team Neil and Laura Westwood first pitched the product on the BBC show 14 years ago, entrepreneur Peter Jones was quick to criticise it.
“This is almost ridiculous, why would I use this?” he asked.
Mr Westwood attempted to explain that trainers and people in charge of group work could benefit from the product, and Mr Jones rebutted: “They would use a whiteboard.”
]]>Facing the Dragons on BBC's Dragons' Den can't be an easy task but to have your product branded 'ridiculous' has to be a double blow.
However, although rejected by one expert, the entrepreneurs presenting one idea have gone on to prove to the panel of multi-millionaire backers that their product was not only good but successful.
In fact, despite being rejected by Peter Jones on the show Magic Whiteboard has gone on to sell millions.
Peter Jones wasn't happy with what married couple Neil and Laura Westwood presented to him back in 2008, reported Manchester Evening News, but the product's success has made him eat his words.
Back in 2008 the pair pitched the Magic Whiteboard to a mixed response in the Den.
It was a simple idea - it's a roll of A1 whiteboard sheets, which will stick to anything due to static.
The couple were seeking £100,000 for a 15 percent equity stake in their business.
Having set up their company back in 2006, Neil later explained to BusinessLive in 2013: "I knew I wanted to start my own business. One day, when I was carrying yet another heavy flip chart to a meeting it suddenly dawned on me there must be a way of making it lighter."
The product wasn’t mocked unanimously, as Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden both offered half the money each.
Though Peter Jones didn’t hesitate to brand the product "ridiculous".
He told the pair: "Laura, Neil, my first look at this - this is almost ridiculous. Why would I use this?"
Neil replied: "If you’re a trainer, if you do any group work…"
Peter still wasn’t impressed as he snapped: "Well, I have a whiteboard."
"But if you’re a consultant, for example, doing any training…" Neil attempted, but Peter replied: "What, I’m going to go and carry that around in my briefcase?
"So you’ll put that on the wall and write notes on it… it just feels ridiculous."

Dragons' Den has had its fair share of weird and wonderful pitches, but a handful of the products on the show can actually go one to become household names.
And while the Dragons often have an eye for a solid investment, sometimes they can get it oh so very wrong.
Take the time Peter Jones labelled a product ridiculous, which then went on to be a staple in UK stationery stores and rack in £1.2m in sales. Awkward.
Yep, Jones was pretty scathing of husband and wife team Neil and Laura Westwood’s pitch, branding it ‘almost ridiculous’ and adding ‘why would I use this?’.
The Westwoods’ pitch was for their magic whiteboard product - a roll of A1 whiteboard sheets that stick to anything due to static.
Their logic was that you sometimes don’t know what facilities will be provided in a meeting room, so can come prepared with the sticky whiteboard sheets rather than having to plan on lugging a full sized whiteboard in with you.
Back in 2008, the couple from Worcester pitched the product to the Dragons, looking for a £100,000 investment in exchange for a 15 percent stake in their company.
Jones, however, was not impressed, saying: “Why would I go and carry that around in my briefcase?”
Laura tried to explain the gap in the market she and her husband were trying to fill, but Jones wasn’t having it and he savagely walked up to the magic whiteboard they’d brought along to the pitch and wrote on it: “I’m out!”
Jones’ fellow Dragons, Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis were a little more savvy, however, and reached an agreement with Neil and Laura to invest £50,000 each in exchange for a 40 percent combined stake in the business.
It turned out to be one of their most successful investments on the show.
Shortly after the Westwoods’ appearance on the show, Paphitis - who is Chairman of Ryman Stationery - went on to stock the whiteboards in 230 of his company’s stores.
Since then, the whiteboards have become a staple in office supply stores and schools, with the company exporting to more than 20 countries.
According to Business Live, sales soared from £45,000 to £1.2 million and in 2014, Neil and Laura bought out Theo and Deborah’s shares in the business, giving the dragons a whopping £800,000 return on their £100,000.
We bet Peter’s kicking himself for not getting in on the action himself!

The Magic Whiteboard, which the couple first created in 2006, is a roll of A1 whiteboard sheets that will stick on anything you want, all thanks to static.
The Magic Whiteboard is now “an office and classroom must-have”.
In these times it is also “the perfect tool” for those regularly working from home.
In 2014, Neil and Laura regained full ownership of their Magic Whiteboard company.
By 2016 they had sold one million copies and their product continues to grow.
Neil and Laura Westwood have branched out into other innovative office supplies, including children’s tabletop whiteboards, reusable sticky notes and ‘tree-free’ notebooks.
Originally the pair had wanted to sell 15 percent of their business for a £100,000 investment from the Dragons’ but they managed to negotiate a deal.
Theo and Deborah each gave £50,000 for a 20 percent share in the business.
The investors got a £800,000 return on their £100,000 investment.
Neil and Laura said they wanted to give their children the shares to secure their future.
On how they got the initial idea for the business, Mr Westwood told BusinessLive: “I knew I wanted to start my own business.
"One day, when I was carrying yet another heavy flip chart to a meeting it suddenly dawned on me there must be a way of making it lighter.”
